Playwright / Dramaturg

Drayton is a genderqueer, neurofabulous playwright/dramaturg and other assorted theatrical trades and witchcraft who specializes in story, structure, and craft.

Currently, they are co-writing the new play Aigoo, Jinjja?! / Oh My God, Really?! with Lisa Helmi Johanson.

Career highlights include dramaturgy on Zitkála-Šá’s Astonishing Wild West by Lizzie Hagstedt and Lisa Helmi Johanson (Semi-Finalist, Eugene O’Neill Music Theatre Conference), Spin by Kate Sumpter at the Edinburgh Fringe (Theatre Weekly’s Best Solo Performance of The Fringe 2023), Josh Rhodes’ production of Cabaret at Asolo Rep and The Old Globe, Céline Rosenthal’s production of the Knott/Hatcher Dial M for Murder at Asolo Rep and Pittsburgh Public Theater, and Taylor Mac’s “we’re all sitting in a ballpit” play The Fre at The Flea, directed by Niegel Smith and closed two days from opening by Covid; Co-Artistic Producing Serials@TheFlea with Michael Raine; workshops of new plays with writers including Lauren Gunderson, Ken Ludwig, and Liz Morgan; writing A.R. Gurney’s Memorial Service, held at the Music Box Theatre in 2017; and creating not one but two Wikipedia Brown plays with Chloë Bass way back in the aughts (The Tank NYC).

They live in Flushing with their husband and their cat.
